Arriving in St. Kitts and Nevis

Before you travel to St. Kitts and Nevis, you must submit an application through the Saint Kitts and Nevis Electronic Border Management System at knatravelform.kn. Do it before you leave home, then keep your approval with your passport.

Most visitors arrive one of two ways: at Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport outside Basseterre, or on a cruise ship at Port Zante in the middle of town.

Before you travel: the Electronic Border Management System

The government's Electronic Border Management System, at www.knatravelform.kn/en, is where you apply before you travel. It's also available as an official mobile app.

• The Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA). Required since May 2025. The UK government's travel advice puts it plainly: all visitors must get one before they travel.
• The online immigration form. Filling it in before you fly speeds things up when you land.
• The fee. There's a fee for the eTA. The site shows the current amount when you apply.

Passport and visa

• Your passport should be valid for at least six months after the date you arrive.
• Many visitors, including those from the UK and the US, don't need a visa for a holiday stay; UK visitors can stay up to six months. Check the rules for your own passport before you book.

Flying in

Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport (SKB) is the main gateway, just outside Basseterre on St. Kitts, with direct flights from North America and the UK. Nevis has its own smaller airport, Vance W. Amory International (NEV), and ferries link the two islands.

Arriving by cruise ship

Cruise ships dock at Port Zante, right on the Basseterre waterfront. A second cruise pier opened in 2019, so it can take several large ships at once. You walk off the pier into town: the shops, The Circus and the market are a few minutes away on foot.

Money

The currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar (EC$), pegged at EC$2.70 to US$1. US dollars are widely accepted, but change often comes back in EC$.

Plugs and power

Sockets take both US-style and UK-style plugs, but the supply is 230 volts. A plug adapter changes the shape, not the voltage, so check that your charger or appliance is rated for 230V before you plug it in.
